Well, start with just turning off the lights. Lights that are on, but no one is in the room using the light is money going out of your wallet and wasting energy. I read that lights is about 12% of the home’s energy bills. So start going green by turning off the lights that are not needed than advance up. Make it a family rule the last one out of the room turns the lights off.

Fall is here and it is a good time to fix the house so the heat will stay in before the really cold weather gets here. One way is to chalk around the windows and doors. Check around the plug in and light switches, you may be surprise how much energy can be lost in these areas. You need to go along the floor and ceilings to check for cracks and fill they. After this your home should be warmer.

The beef I raised my self and it is organic beef. The onions, tomatoes, peppers I grew and they also was organic. The tomato sauce I canned myself and I knew what was in the sauce.
I have a garden I am now in the process of canning Chile sauce from the veggies I have grown myself and they are organic veggies. I also pickled okra that was grown organic. I am storing up for the winter and my food I am putting up is organic food I grew myself. Anyone can do this even if you live in an apartment house. ( not the raiseing of a steer just veggies)
Yes, it is a little work but this winter when the snow is blowing and it is so cold out side I already have my organic supplies inside. Another plus, by doing the work of putting up your food now will help out when the prices goes up this winter on the veggies this winter.

Mohawk’s makes a carpet fiber called everStrand using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) which is extruded from our recycled plastic bottles. They sort the bottles and then ground them into fine pieces. After they are cleaned they are melted down, extruded into fiber and then spun into carpet yarn. The bottle cap and label are also used to make carpet cores. These carpet cores can be used over and over again instead of being discarded like the cardboard cores would be. The plastic bottle now looks alot better on the floor in the form of carpet than in the landfill.

Never put egg shells down the garbage disposal after peeling an egg. They lie in the bottom of your sewer pipes and eventually clog up your pipes leading to a costly plumbing bill.
Egg shells are great for your plants and birds. First thing you do is let the egg shells dry, then crush them into little bits in a brown bag. You can spread them on top of your planting soil or just pour them into your potting soil for later. If you have a snail or slug problem just scatter around the stem to keep them from killing your plant. Egg shells are good for birds too, just scatter crushed shells in the yard. The egg shells give the birds’ that are hatching minerals and acts as free food. If you have any hair clippings you can toss them out too. Birds love gathering hair for making nests.
After you have boiled eggs let the left over water stand and cool. Once cool strain any of the protein pieces out then water your plants with it. When boiling eggs it extracts much of the minerals from the shells and acts as free plant food. You can also make compost tea with this left over water. Compost tea is generally a pitcher of water with compost in it that is aged a few days then poured into the soil around plants to feed and water the plants at the same time.

Egg shells has valuable nutrients such as calclum that is added to the soil. Before putting egg shells be sure to wash and crush them. Crushing the egg shells will help them to break down more quickly. If you only have house plants the egg shells can be added to the bottom of the pots before adding the soil. You can also put the crushed egg shells around the plants stems. Like coffee grinds which put nitrogen in the soil, egg shells put calclum in the soil. Both are good for those vegetable plants like tomatoes and peppers even though many other vegetables can benefit from the egg shells and coffee grinds. Coffee grinds and egg shells can help keep those cutworms and slugs away from your plants. So recycle those egg shells and coffee grinds.

Coffee grounds have a high content of nitrogen and your acid-loving vegetables and plants love it. Just to name a few like tomatoes, hydrangeas and azaleas. Another use is worm bins, worms love coffee grounds and will flourish. Coffee grounds have also been known discourage slugs and others pests away from your plants.
If you do not drink enough coffee you can ask at your local café for them to save them for you or go to your local Starbucks. Starbucks’ has Grounds for Your Garden program and you can get the coffee ground by the bulk. Coffee grinds can be put into your compost pile, mixed with organic potting soil or sprinkled around the plant.
