More people will be putting out gardens this year to help their money go a little farther. If you are one, that is ready to put your hands in the dirt for a vegetable or even a flower garden then save those coffee grounds.
Coffee grounds have a high content of nitrogen and your acid-loving vegetables and plants love it. Just to name a few like tomatoes, hydrangeas and azaleas. Another use is worm bins, worms love coffee grounds and will flourish. Coffee grounds have also been known discourage slugs and others pests away from your plants.
If you do not drink enough coffee you can ask at your local café for them to save them for you or go to your local Starbucks. Starbucks’ has Grounds for Your Garden program and you can get the coffee ground by the bulk. Coffee grinds can be put into your compost pile, mixed with organic potting soil or sprinkled around the plant.
